Members bring their favourite dish for members to sa- vour. We also enjoy live entertainment that could be any thing from dancers, to singer, to players of instruments. This is the night that we hand out awards to those hard working members. We will also have the election of our officers which we are always looking for members to join the board and give us a helping hand or a new perspective . Halloween Party PineRidge is hosting a Halloween Party at Port Perry Old age Home for its residents on evening of October 27th as one of our community services. We need volunteers to bring non-crumbly, soft bake goods Please bring them to the Nursing Home during the day or phone Marilyn for other arrangements. We also need members to volunteer to dress up and help serve and visit with the residents before and after the en- tertainment. Come out and have a witchy good time! Please call Marilyn for details. Meals on Wheels PineRidge members does a craft horticultural in nature to go out on the trays at Christmas. It will take place in No- vember and place, time to be announced. Competition Results Winners of the August Monthly Compometition “ Nock, Nock” was Tettje Prins. At the Fall Flower & Vegetable Show Best in Horticultural was Joyce Rozema and Best in show in Design was Delaine Dyer. On the road again In 1945 Queen Juliana of the Netherlands gave the city of Ottawa a gift of 100,000 tulip bulb to show her gratitude for both the hospitality the people of Ottawa showed to the family and the role the Cana- dian soldiers played in liberating the Netherlands. To this day the city of Ottawa receives 10,000 bulbs from Holland Monarchy every year. We the tour committee proposed to take a tour this coming spring during the tulip festival May 2- 19. One of the many stops we would like to make is to Parliament Hill and then on to Agriculture Canada Arboretum and Botanic Gardens (established 1887, 55 ha), were we are Hoping to have the Ottawa Garden club give us a tour. Then to Commissioners Park to view 500,000 tulips arranged in waves of colour. They have enter- tainment in the park daily. Then off to Major HILL Park where 25 participating countries gather together for a festival full eats and delights, entertainment. You can sit in the “Music in the Tulips” or wander through the “Artist in the Tu- lips.” We would like to stop a Bayward Market if we can fit it in. Design Workshop To take place at Nestleton Community Centre on October 22 from 9:30-3:30. Participates are to bring the following item 1– 12”tall 3-3v1/2 “ diameter, and one 10” tall.
